Ever considered becoming a Freemason?
This news page was created to show potential future members the diversity of our Masonic activities, which are largely charitable social events and always enjoyable, in the hope that they will be interested to find out more.
A good place to start is the "Frequently Asked Questions" page in this website. Once you have taken a look at this, we advise speaking to one or more Masons - feel free to broach the subject with any friends, neighbours or colleagues who are Masons, as most Masons are generally happy to talk to anyone interested and put you in touch with a Lodge Secretary. Otherwise you can always contact us by email, giving us a few details about yourself and why you are interested in joining.
The Lodge of the Round Table has six meetings per year, which take place on the first Wednesday of the month from October to April (Except January). Each meeting commences when the Lodge is opened at approximately 6 p.m. The minutes from the previous meeting are read and then the general business of the Lodge is conducted. At about 7.45 p.m. the Lodge is closed and we move to the Dining Room, where we round off the evening with a Festive Board of good food and lively conversation amongst Brethren from our own and other Lodges.

Social Events
The Lodge calendar also boasts a number of social events, to which Brethren are encouraged to invite their partners, family and friends. Over the years, the Lodge has enjoyed many activities, including:
A Christmas Festive Board following the December Lodge Meeting, when we are joined by our Ladies and friends to celebrate Christmas with all the trimmings. It is also our tradition for the new Worshipful Master to entertain the Brethren and their Ladies at a "summer soiree", this has on occasions been held at our Worshipful Master's home.

Our Contribution to Charity
Since the beginning of Freemasonry, Masons have been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. Today we continue this work and we also raise large sums of money to benefit national and local charities. There are many different levels at which Masonic charity occurs: within local communities individual Lodges give aid, and every Province donates large quantities of money to regional causes. Contributions are also made to the main Masonic charities, which operate at a national level and are funded by the activities of Lodges throughout the country. Lodge of the Round Table holds the distinction of being associated with two of these:
Patron of the Masonic Institution for Boys, Patron of the Masonic Institution for Girls. The Lodge of the Round Table is proud of its individual charitable work in aid of organisations such as
Macmillan Nurses, Meningitis Research, Cancer Research, and Acorns Childrens Hospice.
It should also be noted that donations are always strictly charitable, e.g. donations are never given to political parties or pressure groups.

Treasurer and Charity Steward
Have you returned an up to date Gift Aid form?
The Treasurer and Charity Steward are keen to promote this, in order to
maximise the charitable contributions from the Lodge members. The Charity
Steward will be working hard to promote Gift Aid: he will request every
member of the Lodge who pays UK tax to sign a Gift Aid form. Signing this
form ensures that every penny a Brother donates over the next five years
will qualify for the tax rebate. Making your Gift Aided donation could
not be easier, as you can pay by monthly standing order or make irregular
donations to suit you.
